An elegant migratory bird

This limited series of just ten watches, each with a wood marquetry dial, showcases a finely rendered Northern Pintail, a migratory bird found across Europe, Asia and the Americas, and a favorite subject of the artists of ancient Egypt.

With remarkable precision, the marquetry artisan has brought out the bird’s sleek plumage, sharp gaze and natural poise, all set against a backdrop in soft shades of vert d’eau (watery green). To honour the pintail’s noble bearing, he shaped and fitted together 161 pieces of veneer and 25 minuscule inlays, drawing on a palette of 45 wood species whose subtle hues, textures and grains blend into one refined image.

The white-gold case, with its solid case back, follows harmonious proportions inspired by the ancient golden ratio. Hours and minutes are told by cheveu-style hands crafted in white gold, while inside beats the caliber 240, an ultra-thin self-winding movement.

A glossy olive-green alligator strap completes the watch, fastened with a white-gold pin buckle that echoes the case’s elliptical lines.
