When it comes to jewellery, it’s hard to beat the classics. However, if you’re longing for something with a unique design, blending two-tone metals but never compromising on quality, David Yurman could be the branding you have been searching for. A boundless selection of hand-crafted jewellery designs with glistening stones, contrasting textures, and modern twists; David Yurman jewellery enjoys a contemporary edge and is an admirable addition to any jewellery collection.
David Yurman is both a person and a brand. The brand’s namesake was born in New York, just miles (and days!) apart from Sybil Kleinrock, who would eventually become David’s wife, inspiration and business partner. When the pair eventually crossed paths, love blossomed quickly as they began creating art together. Sybil was a painter, whilst David turned his hands to sculpture. He lived by the motto, “Life is art”.
In keeping with his motto, David leaned on his art to mark milestones in his and Sybil’s life together. Fittingly, David’s gifts were often hand-crafted, such as the necklace he gifted to his beloved wife, which became the cornerstone of their business together. The two combined their talents and outstanding skills to create unique yet undeniably identifiable pieces. Their collections are firmly based on the concept of life’s journeys, with the couple being quoted as saying, it was never about the money; their jewellery-making has always been an emotional, explorative and collaborative process that allows them to bond together and quickly became the art form they enjoyed creating the most together.
Much like Lunn’s Jewellers, David Yurman began as a family business and remains so to this day. David and Sybil are still at the helm of the renowned brand, with their son, Evan, overseeing the men’s wedding and watch sections of the business.
David Yurman upholds a company ethos that is family-focused, socially-conscious and ever-evolving; an aspirational ethos that we endeavour to draw inspiration from. Beyond their admirable principles, is the international recognition of the iconic David Yurman brand. With boutiques all over the world, we are proud to showcase an exquisite array of Yurman’s most beloved collections here in Lunn’s.
Since 1983, David Yurman has been synonymous with The Cable: a recognisable emblem of the brand and the foundation for many of its most popular designs. According to David and Sybil, the cable has many meanings: the intertwining of classic and contemporary and the intertwining of one another.
Today, almost all of Yurman’s best sellers include some semblance of the cable motif, such as the Cable Classic Bracelet, the Chatelaine Ring, the Crossover Collection Ring, and the Small Cable Hoop Earrings. Even the simplest designs boast the incorporation of the cable, like the Bijoux Spiritual Beads Pearl Bracelet and the Petite X Ring with Diamonds
Another motif that is a staple feature throughout the Yurman brand is the use of cushion cut gems and diamonds. David Yurman patented a special technique called the DY Signature Cut. This cut combines the best elements of a cushion cut and round brilliant cut, creating noticeably sharper corners and a more defined external slope than a traditional cushion cut. This technique is central in many popular Yurman designs, such as the Petite Albion Ring and the Petite Albion Pendant Necklace. In the U.S., it is not uncommon for the Petite Albion and Chatelaine rings to be purchased in school colours and used as alternative class rings. The coloured gemstones also make great options to represent birthstones, or wedding gifts.
